Editor Duties

Editorial Decision Making

Acceptance, rejection, or acceptance with modification decisions should be based on thorough evaluation.
Ensure fair play in the review process for all submissions regardless of author background.
Evaluate manuscripts based solely on intellectual content and scholarly merit.

Ethical Oversight

Maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and author information at all times.
Disclose and manage conflicts of interest appropriately and transparently.
Participate actively in investigations of ethical issues and research misconduct.
Ensure the integrity of the peer review process through proper oversight.

Reviewer Guidelines

Peer review plays an important role in the academic growth of reviewers by helping them stay current with emerging research and inspiring their own scholarly work. The Journal of Research, Innovation and Development (IJRID) uses a double-blind peer review process for all submissions. In this system, both the reviewer and the author remain anonymous.

Benefits of Double-Blind Review

It minimizes potential bias from the reviewer regarding the author's gender, nationality, academic rank, or publication record.
Papers are judged purely on their merit, regardless of the author's reputation or prominence.
It enhances the overall quality of published articles.
It ensures proper credit is given to earlier work.
It helps detect plagiarism and other unethical practices.

Before Agreeing to Review

The topic falls within the reviewer's field of expertise.
The reviewer can complete the review within the allotted time, typically 3-4 weeks for IJRID.
The reviewer understands the journal's editorial policies. If this information is not supplied by the editor, they should ask for it.

Review Process and Assessment

Share overall impressions of the article.
Determine whether the manuscript complies with the journal's editorial standards.
Keep all comments objective, evidence-based, and free of speculation.
Write in clear, concise, and well-structured paragraphs.
Immediately notify the editor if plagiarism, research misconduct, or ethical breaches are suspected.
Provide detailed feedback on the abstract, introduction, methodology, results and discussion, conclusion, and references.
Evaluate originality, creativity, relevance, significance, practical value, contribution to the field, methodological rigor, comprehensiveness, language quality, and the adequacy of references, tables, figures, and captions.
Clearly outline the manuscript's strengths, weaknesses, and any additional suggestions for the author.

Author Guidelines

Authors should submit only papers that have been carefully proofread and polished. Before submission, please make sure that your paper is prepared using the journal paper template. This will ensure fast processing and publication. Acceptance or rejection notification will be sent to all authors.

Contribution Categories

Technical and ethical notes.
Extensive and analytical reviews on scientific topics.
Original research.
Speedy communications: short, independent articles on ongoing research.

Submission Requirements

Authors can submit extensions of papers already published in conferences and/or journals.
English is the only supported language, with a page limit of 100 double-column pages as per the FedponekIJRD paper format.
The submitted paper must be written in MS Word format with file extension .doc or .docx.
The names of the authors given in the final manuscript are indexed in the open journal.

Manuscript Guidelines

General Information

The Journal of Research, Innovation and Development (JRID) is a multidisciplinary peer-reviewed journal published by the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Development, Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria.
The journal publishes original research articles, review papers, short communications, technical notes, case studies, and policy papers that contribute significantly to knowledge, innovation, technology development, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.
Submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal.
Manuscripts should demonstrate scientific rigor, novelty, relevance, and ethical integrity.

Language

Manuscripts shall be written in clear and concise English.
Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to have their manuscripts professionally edited before submission.

Manuscript Formatting

Authors should prepare manuscripts using Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).
Paper size: A4.
Margins: 2.54 cm (1 inch) on all sides.
Font: Times New Roman.
Font size: 12 pt.
Line spacing: 1.5.
Paragraph alignment: Justified.

Manuscript Organization

The manuscript should be arranged in the required order beginning with the title page.
The title page should contain a concise and informative title of not more than 20 words.
Include full names of all authors.
Include institutional affiliations.
Include ORCID IDs where available.
Include the corresponding author's name and email address.
